Today’s Flow Chart & Cards
A flexible visual routine that is designed to help support communication, and choice throughout the day.
Many children benefit from knowing what’s happening next.
But for some children, traditional visual schedules can feel overwhelming or too rigid, especially when they don’t allow for flexibility, autonomy or changing needs.
Today’s Flow Chart has been thoughtfully designed to help provide structure without removing choice.
Instead of simply showing what needs to happen, the chart encourages children and adults to work together by breaking each task into three simple stages:
🟡 What’s happening?
Children can clearly see what activity or routine is coming next.
🟢 How would you like to do it?
This is where choice matters.
Children can choose the support that feels right for them in that moment.
🔵 Need a reset?
Some days we all need extra support.
The regulation cards can provide simple visual reminders that it’s okay to pause, and return when ready.
What’s Included
This complete visual support system includes:
A large Today’s Flow Chart
20 daily School routine cards
8 “Choose How” support cards
9 “Reset & Regulate” cards
How Its Designed to Work
Simply choose the routine cards your child needs for the day and place them on the chart.
As each activity approaches, your child can choose how they’d like to complete it using the “Choose How” cards.
For example, they may choose:
I’ll do it myself.
Let’s do it together.
I need headphones.
Help me get started.
Use a timer.
Quiet space first.
If things start to feel difficult, the “Reset & Regulate” cards are designed to provide supportive options before returning to the routine.
This may allow flexibility while still providing the predictability many children can find helpful.
Today’s Flow Chart has been thoughtfully designed to support more than just routines.
Rather than expecting every day to look exactly the same, the chart recognizes that children’s needs can change from one moment to the next.
Suitable For
Today’s Flow Chart may be helpful for:
Families
Early childhood settings
Classrooms
Education assistants
Therapists
Homeschooling families
It may also support children who benefit from visual routines, flexible planning or additional communication supports throughout the day.
