Calm Choice Cards

$36.95

When “What would help?” is just another question they can’t answer.

When a child is overwhelmed, dysregulated or starting to feel things building, working out what they need to feel calmer can be incredibly difficult.

Even when they already know strategies that sometimes help, accessing those ideas in the moment can be another challenge entirely.

Calm Choice Cards give children a visual selection of simple regulation options they can choose from — without expecting them to come up with an answer on the spot.

Instead of asking:

“What do you need?”
“What will help?”
“Do you want to calm down?”

you can offer choices they can actually see.

Supporting Choice, Not Compliance

Calm Choice Cards aren't about telling a child to “calm down.”

They're designed to help children explore different ways of supporting their body and nervous system while maintaining choice and autonomy.

A child might choose movement.

Something sensory.

A quiet space.

Connection with an adult.

A familiar calming activity.

Or they may decide that none of the choices feel right yet.

The child still has a choice.

Why Visual Choices Can Help

During overwhelm, it can be harder to process language, make decisions, remember strategies or explain what might help.

Having regulation options presented visually can reduce some of that thinking load and give the child something concrete to respond to.

Over time, the cards can also help children explore which regulation strategies feel useful for their individual body and brain.

Designed for Real-Life Moments

Calm Choice Cards can be used:

  • At home.

  • In the classroom.

  • In calm or regulation spaces.

  • During transitions.

  • Before overwhelm escalates.

  • During periods of dysregulation.

  • In therapy or support sessions.

  • Anywhere a child may benefit from visual regulation choices.

They can be offered individually, displayed as a small selection or used together depending on what works best for the child.

Who They're For

Designed with Autistic children, children with ADHD and other neurodivergent children in mind, particularly children who may find it difficult to identify or communicate what could help when they're overwhelmed.

Suitable for families, educators, support workers, occupational therapists, psychologists and other professionals supporting neurodivergent children.
